When we first moved into our house, our hallway closet had a small organizing system. I knew we weren’t maximizing our space since our closet is deep.
Fortunately, there were already shelf holders on each end of the closet wall, so I came up with the idea of buying 6 foot long boards to cut to the length of the closet.
We ended up with five new shelves that are a little over 5 feet long and just over a foot deep, so there is lots of room for storage!


I stained the wood for a golden oak finish, and my Dad secured each shelf with an L bracket that I spray painted brass.
I then asked Louis’s dad to help us tap into the electric switch on the other side of the closet in our full bath. So we tapped into that line and added a new light fixture and switch. As a result, it’s much brighter, and we can store more than ever before!
